The 300/400 series are a family of customizable stationary tritium in air monitors. These units are AC powered and are designed for continuous, unattended operation. The modular configuration allows these units to be tailored to a customer’s specific application. The 300/400 series are grouped into four main categories as below, according to whether they use single (not gamma compensated) or multiple ionization chambers (gamma compensated), and whether they measure across a single range (3-5 decades) or a wide-range (up to 6.5 decades).

Customers can further choose the size of the ionization chamber (which is correlated to measurement range and sensitivity), display type (color touch-screen or digital panel meter), alarm configuration, mounting configuration (local or remotely mounted), and many other options:

300 Series: Single-range monitors, the 300 series instruments can be configured to measure over 3 to 5 decades selected anywhere between 1 µCi/m³ to pure tritium. Enhanced sensitivity down to 0.1 µCi/m³ can be achieved through use of a larger ion chamber (2L).

400 Series: Wide-range monitors, the 400 series will cover up to 6.5 decades of displayed measurement with a single detector assembly. A wide range of measurement places extreme demands on ionization chamber design with regard to contamination effects by tritium oxide. Proper design ensures full linearity over the entire range, and minimum offset at the low end of the measurement range. Wider measurement ranges such as 7 or 8 decades may use two sets of automatically switched ionization chambers, using one chamber for only high-level measurement and the second chamber for only low-level measurement so that it does not become contaminated by high tritium concentrations which would adversely affect the low-level accuracy and sensitivity.

-HMI version replaces the digital panel meter and front panel alarm controls with a color touch-screen to handle all controls (alarm set-points, measurement units), alarm indicators, and display functions.
